Sonia Gebrael is the youngest of six children born to Lebanese migrants that settled in a tight-knit community in Sydney. Her interest in exploring her heritage has seen her travel to Lebanon on several occasions where she was fortunate to journey the country, connect with relatives and discover new friends. These experiences enabled Sonia to develop a profound appreciation of the culture and attitudes that shaped her parents and her upbringing.
Sonia’s enthusiasm for wandering the world led her to open the doors of Travel Time in 2000 which she still manages. Though she is busy creating itineraries, Sonia has a deep passion for reading and writing, in particular, epic dramas and romances. At seventeen, she completed her first novel, a teen romance that was fueled by her infatuation of the Australian soccer team and was handwritten on a dozen exercise books stapled together. Fast forward twenty years and Sonia armed herself with a vision and a will-to-do and completed her first 'real' book, What Lies Beneath the Cedars. Her writing ambition is to bring to life her daydreams and create stories that speak to the heart. She hopes to inspire others to follow their dreams, rise beyond their insecurities and realise their full potential. She attributes stability in her busy life to her supportive husband and three active children. |
